Berwyn Barns is a great place to base yourself to see the beautiful countryside and attractions of North and Mid Wales – or just relax in the tranquillity of the Ceiriog Valley.
Right outside the door there are some great walking and mountain biking routes to explore, and the wildlife is everywhere, making it an ideal bird watching location.
Fishing is available by prior arrangement.
Of course you can always relax inside!

Things to see in north and mid Wales: history and heritage
Llangollen, with its historic buildings, quirky shops and steam trains is just 20 miles away, along with the World Heritage Site of the Llangollen Canal, with its aqueducts at Froncysyllte and Chirk.
Chirk Castle is worth a visit, as is the spectacular Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall just outside the village of Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant.
For the more adventurous – mountain biking, zip line and surfing
If you’re feeling energetic you’ll find canoeing and white water rafting at Llangollen, as well as plenty of places to go walking, road cycling or mountain biking.
In fact, if you’re into mountain biking, don’t forget to try out the trails at One Planet Adventure, Coed Llandegla, just over the spectacular Horseshoe Pass from Llangollen.
There’s also lots of other places to go mountain biking, such as the Clwydian Range and the Berwyn mountains, and we’re not far from Snowsonia with its major trails such as Penchmachno and Coed y Brenin.
If water is your thing, then there’s Surf Snowdonia at Adventure Parc Snowdonia.
And we’re also within an hour and a half of the attractions at Zip World, which includes the World’s fastest zip line over Penrhyn Quarry.

Shopping and things to do in Chester, Wrexham and Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury and Wrexham offer plenty to see and do (as well as shopping) and Chester is within easy reach for a day trip, as is most of North Wales.
But most of all we hope you’ll love coming back to your cosy cottage at Berwyn Barns!
